Ashley & Steven's Intimate Garden Wedding

Ashley & Steven’s wedding was full of surprises. The first surprise was a massive thunderstorm. We crossed our fingers and did a rain dance to hope that it wouldn’t hit us, but it did. Ashley, had her heart set on a beautiful garden wedding at Oatlands and gosh darn, it was going to happen! With some prayers to grandma and a lot of crossed fingers, we waited out the storm and soon it stopped! Sandy, our coordinator at Oatlands quickly got the soggy chairs picked up and decided we would have their friends and family gather and stand for the ceremony in the garden. It turned out to be lovely and had a very intimate feel with everyone standing and watching the couple’s interfaith ceremony fusing Ashley’s western background and Steven’s Filipino background. Once the ceremony was over, we had the rest of the night to celebrate and party. Ashley & Steven’s friends and family were astounded when Ashley revealed a surprise, even to the groom! She had managed to get the White Castle Crave Mobile food truck to come (all the way from Ohio) to the wedding for some late night snack bites! White Castle was a family tradition of Ashley’s around special occasions so she said, despite being out of their normal area, she had to find a way to get them to Virginia for this most special of occasions!

Chris & Katie's D.C. Military Wedding

It doesn’t get more D.C. than this!  Katie and Chris, both esteemed members of our military, decided to have a beautiful church ceremony in North West and then invited friends and family to celebrate the night away at the historic Old Ebbit Grill.  All the wedding team vendors from Lynn at The Finer Points planning to Christi at Bergeron’s Flowers helped pull together an elegant and classic feeling to the day.  We went to Pershing Park, adjacent to the White House, to take some photos and while the weather didn’t fully cooperate, Katie, Chris, and their bridal party were all stellar and didn’t mind the rain at all and we kept taking beautiful photos.

Jessica & Matt's Historic Countryside Wedding

Jessica & Matt’s Spring wedding at Whitehall Estate in gorgeous Bluemont, VA was a wedding to remember.  The gentle sweetness the two share is “awww” inducing.  The couple made the day a true celebration of friends and family coming together.   I cried like a baby when Jess surprised Matt at cocktail hour by playing a violin solo of his favorite classical piece; it was beautiful!.  They had the tears going again during their choreographed first dance to a beautiful Snow Patrol song.  With a little bit of nostalgia, the couple brought their favorite band from their college days, Snackbar Jones, to keep the party going all night long

Ashley & Doug's Virginia Horse Country Wedding

Ashley & Doug’s love for each other couldn’t be more apparent. Their heartfelt ceremony, set at the bride’s parent’s home in the rolling hills of the Virginia countryside, was a true tear jerker. Their families surrounded them and all put so much heart into the setup of the day and it showed. The day was hot and eventually turned dark and stormy, even a few tornadoes were reported not all that far away! The rain came in sideways to the tent and there was a river over the dance floor, but in the true spirit of celebrating love, everyone just grabbed a towel, threw it under their feet and danced the dance floor dry! Everyone had a fabulous time and I doubt Ashley and Doug would have had it any other way!

Haper's Ferry, WV Egnagement: Jennie and Chris

Wow! Two higschool sweethearts found their way back together and are making it official! Jennie and Chris live three states away, but contacted me to take their engagement photos at Haper’s Ferry to commemorate not just their favorite spot to travel together, but also the spot where Chris proposed! I was honored to be chosen and had such a great time hiking around with these two laid back, sweet, and fun loving people. We found all sorts of amazing spots in the locks, perfectly blooming wildflowers (swoon!), and even picked up some pretty fun photobombers who were climbing out of the river after a full day of tubing. Too funny! One of the sweetest things about this session though was the cute fishing hook Jennie had made with the date they first got together. We hung her promise ring from way back then next to her engagement ring. I would love to add the wedding rings to that photo in the future!
