This engagement session was truly one for the memory books! Dawn and Steven loved their wedding venue, Gramercy Mansion so much that they decided to do their engagement photos there. Knowing just how beautiful and expansive the grounds are there, I had absolutely no complaints! Those grounds are a photographer’s dream! Pair that with a couple that is madly in love and it’s a recipe for engagement session perfection. That is, until, Mother Nature decided to intervene. We thought we might skirt the rain and get it in before the session but nope! It was pouring! Thunder, Lightning, the works. Thankfully, Dawn and Steven had a great sense of humor about the whole thing and were happy to photograph inside the mansion. After all, there was plenty of room! Well, in the middle of shooting inside, the power decides to go out! Ack! Thank goodness I have battery operated lights to work with! While it’s not my “typical” style to utilize studio lighting for an engagement shoot, I was thrilled with the dramatic results! It matched the drama and elegance of the venue and was a perfect compliment to the romance between Dawn & Steven. Take a peek at the photos below!
There’s something so magical about a perfect city wedding and Stephanie and David nailed it at Arlington’s Hotel Le Meridien. Vibrant blues & pinks accented their rooftop patio ceremony (complete with beautiful views of Georgetown) and their intimate reception in the Amuse Restaurant. To top it all off, Steph & David are a stunning couple, filled to the brim with admiration for each other. Love radiated from them and their families as they danced the night away. Check out the photos below!
Whenever you’re around Joanna and Matt, you can just feel the love radiating from them. Their bright smiles lit the day up with happiness and I couldn’t have had more fun photographing for them. After all, their wedding was set smack in the middle of horse country in Middleburg, VA at the Salamander Resort. The day started off with a ceremony at the same church Joanna’s sister was married, before we journeyed into the heart of town for some photos, then back to the Salamander for more fun. They celebrated with horse drawn carriage rides, cocktails in the culinary garden and then later, dancing the night away to the tunes of D.C. Fusion.
When I first met Kristin and she told me of her plans for a “Secret Garden” wedding at Morven Park I was hooked! Morven Park was the perfect venue to carry out that theme and with all the details she planned, it was just perfect! From Kristin’s perfectly blush dress from LeReve Bridal with the custom crystal bolero, she was a vision on wedding day! The groomsmen were decked out in blue suits (which was awesome and all groomsmen should have more color). They had hung gorgeous crystal chandeliers throughout the gardens and the reception was full of white linens, blush pink blooms, crystal candelabras and a clear top tent (which I had never seen before)! Check out the photos below.
Ashley & Steven’s wedding was full of surprises. The first surprise was a massive thunderstorm. We crossed our fingers and did a rain dance to hope that it wouldn’t hit us, but it did. Ashley, had her heart set on a beautiful garden wedding at Oatlands and gosh darn, it was going to happen! With some prayers to grandma and a lot of crossed fingers, we waited out the storm and soon it stopped! Sandy, our coordinator at Oatlands quickly got the soggy chairs picked up and decided we would have their friends and family gather and stand for the ceremony in the garden. It turned out to be lovely and had a very intimate feel with everyone standing and watching the couple’s interfaith ceremony fusing Ashley’s western background and Steven’s Filipino background. Once the ceremony was over, we had the rest of the night to celebrate and party. Ashley & Steven’s friends and family were astounded when Ashley revealed a surprise, even to the groom! She had managed to get the White Castle Crave Mobile food truck to come (all the way from Ohio) to the wedding for some late night snack bites! White Castle was a family tradition of Ashley’s around special occasions so she said, despite being out of their normal area, she had to find a way to get them to Virginia for this most special of occasions!
