It’s been quite a while since I’ve gotten my act together with blogging. 2016 proved to be our best (and definitely busiest!) year yet and I sadly lost track of blogging. However, that means I have ALL kinds of goodies coming your way over the next few weeks. Get ready for eye candy!
Speaking of eye candy, the Spring wedding of Rebecca & Ed was a classicly beautiful D.C. wedding at Saint Francis Hall. Jasmine Smith (of Jasmine Smith & Co) paired the timeless feel with subtle modern touches for this wedding design. I loved how the bridesmaids bouquets from Scentsational Florals were a classic, romantic pink but simple, modern tulips and Rebecca’s time honored ballgown had an awesome striped fabric that showed a fun, artistic side. Chef Lynette & Well Dunn catering also contributed to the theme with some spectacular custom cocktails, delicious dishes, and some phenomenal cupcakes.
I love the Rocky Mountains. They make my heart sing. I also love my friends and clients. When the three of those things all come together, life doesn’t get any better! That’s what happened with this photo session with my beautiful friend Meredith while I was out on one of my many trips to Colorado. Being a photographer herself, Meredith of course, is too busy taking photos of others to have many photos of herself (don’t I know that story!) and since I’m always ready to jump at a chance to photograph in the mountains, we decided to set up a shoot with her and her fur baby, Kinsey.
We traveled out past Boulder, into the front range, and found some beautiful areas toward Nederland and the beautiful Gross Resevoir. I’ll definitely be coming back to this spot. Check out the session highlights below and if you’re interested in your own Colorado Adventure Session, please email me! We’re officially accepting sessions in Colorado for select dates in 2017.
Natalie and John could not have picked a more perfect or beautiful day to get married. The Piedmont Club was such a stunning venue, which provided an amazing backdrop for some unforgettable photos.H & M Unveiled did a wonderful job with Natalie’s hair and make-up. Royalty Flowers, Wanda’s Cakes and A2Z Music Factory were just a few other vendors that pulled together to make this such a special day for Natalie and John.
Emily and Jeff had a classic DC wedding in Georgetown at Grace Episcopal Church and followed it up at the historic City Tavern Club just around the corner. Emily’s dress was her mothers (cue sentimental tears here!) that was customized with a lace top and sleeves just for her. After a heartfelt ceremony incorporating Christian and Jewish traditions, we continued the night with dinner and dancing to the amazing sounds of one of DC’s hottest bands The Bachelor Boys.
When I first met Lisa, we clicked instantly. It was rather uncanny the amount of things we had in common, so when she gave me the official word that she wanted me to be her wedding photographer for her winter wedding at the Regency at Dominion Valley. The wedding was filled with beautiful details of purple. Bridesmaids dresses, family heirloom rings, flowers, everything! It was a perfect compliment to the holiday decor all around for the month of December. Oddly enough, for a December wedding, Mother Nature decided to throw us a curve ball and give us a gloriously beautiful day (which I was thankful for so we could take advantage of the beautiful grounds around the venue)! After a heartfelt first look, we wandered around the grounds and had a great time taking photos before joining the bridal party and family to commemorate their part in Lisa & Jonathan’s day. The ceremony was full of happy tears all around and when Lisa’s bridesmaids gathered together and sang a cappella for the couple, there were more tears. Such beautiful signing! After a celebratory cocktail hour, the couple entered into a reception to a standing ovation. Then, Lisa brought down the house with a surprise rendition of Nora Jones’ “Come Away With Me” to serenade her groom. I was in absolute awe of of her angelic voice and thank goodness for auto focus because she moved me (and everyone else in the room) to tears. The love these two have is deep and it was an absolutely privilege to photograph for them.
